I am a piano teacher in Dunedin, New Zealand. I teach both classical and modern styles.
At present most of my students are school age children but I also teach several adults. My students range from beginners to diploma level in both classical and modern streams.
In addition to teaching I have, over a long career, been a performer, an accompanist, a relieving church organist playing a pipe organ, an arranger, a writer of music related books and I have led many workshops at music teacher gatherings.
Music, and teaching are my chief passions, but I also enjoy spending time with my large extended family.
I am an enthusiastic sports spectator too, and frequently referee a football match from the comfort of my armchair.
2026 update
I retired from teaching in 2022 during the covid pandemic. We had lockdowns, general disruption and the time seemed right to retire. I was 87 years old at the time so probably due to retire anyway.
I enjoyed teaching and I miss it. I decided to spend some time creating piano arrangements of popular music. I enjoy that also and it keeps me involved with music
